Any luck getting CVSNT to work with Eclipse? [message #147345] Thu, 04 March 2004 15:38 Go to next message

I am trying to get Eclipse 3.0 M7 to work with CVSNT 2.0.34

Every time I launch Eclipse, I get the following error in the "Problems"
window:

"A class file was not written. The project may be inconsistent, if so
try refreshing this project and rebuilding it."

When I attempt to "Refresh with Remote" I get:

"ERROR: Refreshing 'CVS Workspace' with remote: An error occurred while
synchronizing with remote contents."

I am not using CVS prefixes (I've read that causes problems). I don't
have any attachment to CVSNT but I would like a source control system
integrated with Eclipse and don't have a UNIX box handy. If that is
really a necessity, I can get it set up.

Our Eclipse 3.0 M7 is OK with CVSNT 2.0.9 on Windows 2000 Pro.

Hmmm. That's the same version of Eclipse that I'm using and I'm using
the newer (and according to the web site, the most stable) 2.0.34
version of CVSNT.

This is really frustrating and I have no idea how to troubleshoot this
further. I am trying to make this installation as plain as possible and
I get these bizarre errors that don't turn up in any search engines...

Any ideas anyone?

I've encountered similar (but not identical) problems with CVSNT 2.0.34
and Eclipse 2.1.2 on Windows 2000 (SP4). It was no longer possible to
synchronize with the repository after a file has been deleted locally.
The cvs server is running on the same machine.
A working solution for my problem was to downgrade to 2.0.26. Then
everything worked ok again (I had to disable the "Setuid LSA Agent" in
the install setup due to fatal crashes in lsass.exe that always ended in
a reboot of Windows! - that problem has been fixed in 2.0.34, btw).
