also the servlet viewer display the report as html in the second case and
ignore the _format=pdf,consider that I put the iText.jar in its place.

Try the run viewer.
http://192.168.1.83:1500/Reports/run?__report=HotelReports/n ew_report.rptdesign&__format=pdf

Check the itext.jar size ~ 1 Mb or not. If not download latest.

Also check whether ur URL using __format=pdf(Double underscore before
format) or not.

I've met the same problem as u got. This is c'z u use the 1.4 version of
itext.jar. Just download one 1.3 version of the file and replace it in the
deployment environment. It should works:-)
