I was wondering if anyone knows of a way to wrap a Jfreechart into SWT and
put it in a view in the eclipse workbench. Is this possible in theory? and
hopefully in code?

You can certainly render a chart into an AWT BufferedImage and then
convert it into an SWT image to display it. See
http://www-128.ibm.com/developerworks/library/j-2dswt/?ca=dn t-522 for a
converter.
