IDocument locs workspace while being connected to FileInputStream [message #144854]

I ran into cumbersom situation. If being in workspace operation my code
needs to connect FileDocumentProvider (for IDocument) to input stream
just to read the document, it does implicit file refresh and tries to
lock workspace. The result of that is a deadlock. Is there any way to
avoid workspace locking during connection of FileDocumentProvider?
