Mindmap tutorial part I - problem with subtopics [message #137520] Tue, 19 June 2007 07:28 Go to next message

Hi All,

I've got a problem with the mindmap tutorial part1. I did everything as
it is said on the web page, but unfortunately the generated diagram
doesn't seem to work as it should.
There is a Topis entry on the palette, which works fine, but the
TopisSubtopic entry doesn't work (there is no icon on the palette, I can
select this, but I cannot put anything on the diagram).
I've gone through the tutorial 3 times, every time with the same result.

I found similar problem described on the newsgroup and Richard Gronbac
wrote:
"Check your Tool property assignment in the mapping model for the Subtopic
link.

The Diagram Node for the topic should have been set by the wizard. Can you
repeat this?"

I checked this values and:
- the Tool property for the Subtopic in the mapping model is set to:
Creation Tool Topic
- Diagram Node for the topis is set to: Node Topic

Any ideas will be appreciated :)

The tool for the Subtopic (link) should be set to the TopicSubtopic creation
tool.

It works! Thanks!
I just wonder if there is something wrong with one of the wiazards or
maybe I did something wrongly.

the wizards create trash concerning the tool and the graph mapping in
the map file ... it seems they randomly assign them ;)

It seems this is the same issue
https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=169210

I'd recommend voting for this bug and/or adding your own comments.

Thanks,
Rich

I've voted for that! :)

But I've got another problem, this time according the second part of the
tutorial. I made the changes to the graphical definition (adding
compartments, threads, etc) and to the tools definitions. Later I wanted
to generate the mapping model, but I didn't succeed.
On the page "Select Diagram Palette" of the mapping model wizard I get
message:
" Error loading model: Unresolved reference 'ThreadItemCompartment'.
(platform:/resource/org.eclipse.gmf.examples.mindmap/model/m indmap.gmfgraph,
11, 34)"

and new entry appears in the log view:
