Report Viewer Performance / Caching [message #129454] Mon, 13 February 2006 15:57

A couple questions....

Is most everyone using the BIRT report viewer as-is when running it
integrated (under JBoss, for example). The documentation mentions that is
optimized for running under Eclipse. My report viewer seems sluggish when
I run it under JBoss (it takes 10+ seconds to bring back a very small
amount of data vs. 2-3 seconds when run through Eclipse). Is there
anything I can do to speed it up?

Also, how does result set caching work? When I run a report the first time
it is EXTREMELY slow, but when I run it again it seems to be faster.
(Also, I noticed that the .rptdesign file is getting compiled and/or
cached somewhere because if I change it it still produces the same results
until I bounce my JBoss.
