Hi TPTP project members,
we (brox and empolis) are currently propsing a eclipse project called EILF
(http://www.eclipse.org/proposals/eilf/).
Our project has the area of information management and we are using TPTP for
measureing performance.
We have developed an extension that matches the M$ approach of performance
counters.
http://www.developer.com/net/net/article.php/3356561
These performance counters could be embedded into the application via OSGi
bundles.
We are planing to use these components for application monitoring in our
software.
Is your team interested in a contribution?
Regards,
Georg Schmidt

Hi Oliver,
thanks to your response. I will contact the COSMOS team also.
Indeed we are monitoring production systems... But also during development
and configuration modifcation. Performance engeneering in general... its
starting in the development.... (who i have to tell ;-) you are much more in
than i ) I mean... gathering method level metrics is not all and it should
be concidered on a higher level. Take a look onto the performance counters
of your OS (when you are using windows). I want to have this feature
seamlessly in any application. I wan't to be able to optimize in any level
of the application lifecycle [dev; test; configuration; deployment;
production;]... and TPTP is making the connection to OS and the hardware
area.
We have spend some month to get it running...
I got into touch with your project cause of the following reasons.
* We are using TPTP for monitoring the OS
* We have made an Agent (i am not the tech guy who made it... please correct
me if incorrect) that is able to collect data from the performance counters
* We are now able to do what we have done before in .NET (but better)...
creating a relationship between our app and the OS
* I wanted to give something back.
Thanks,
Georg
