How to open a non-project file [message #116999]

I would like to avoid using multiple editors (Eclipse, Vim, etc..)
during my development but currently have not found a way to open files
that do not exist as part of a project. I don't want to be forced to
create an arbitrary project with linked folders to all the locations
that I might possibly want to use.

Does anyone know how to do this? Plug-in maybe?

Using one of the latest builds you can open external files.

And if you're stuck with 2.1.x you can use the fileopen or filedrag plugins.
Fileopen can be found in the download area of www.eclipsepowered.org.

Under 3.0 you can simply use File > Open External File. If you don't see
that menu option, do a reset perspective.
