| Unix/Mac/Windows line terminator [message #116728] | Thu, 10 November 2005 18:02 | |
| Eclipse User | | | | | Our development team is loosely structured, with some developers prefering unix and others windows. Code is checked into CVS with Unix line
 terminators.

I want to use Eclipse on windows, and don't want to change the line
termination. The only mention of line terminator in the Help file is in
CVS preferences, where I've unchecked "convert text files to use platform
 line ending".

I'm not using the Eclipse CVS plugin. If I edit and save a file, will the
line terminator character change? Is there no where in preferences to set
which line terminator convention to use?

 TIA

Isn't Windows->Preferences->General->Editors page what you are looking
for? There is global option for line termination.

Also (although unchecked) I believe that Eclipse finds out about line
termination character upon opening file and keeps this setting (I may be
 wrong).

Another thing is that you can fine tune it and set it in file properties
page for a single file you choose (if you ever desire it).

Anyway this global option is the way to go for you I believe.

 HTH && cheers,
 Radek.
