Configure Web App [message #108302] Tue, 21 October 2003 12:10 Go to next message

I am in the process of evaluating Eclipse as a possible replacement to
JBuilder 7 and am having trouble configuring a web app that will run
locally.

In JBuilder this is a very simple process (wizard), but with Eclipse I
haven't been able to figure out how to create a local web app so
developers can build and test on their individual systems.

Is there any documentation available that explains this process?

Thanks

This is not really enough information about what you're trying to do.
What container do you want to run this web app under?
There is a nice plug-in for Tomcat
(http://www.sysdeo.com/eclipse/tomcatPlugin.html) that helps. You can
find other plug-ins at http://eclipse-plugins.2y.net/

Basically, Eclipse by itself does not have a web-app container - you can
to run your container from Eclipse, just like any other Java application.

Dave,

Look into http://www.myeclipseide.org. MyEclipse layers on many handy
plug-ins for J2EE development. There's a free evaluation copy and only $30
annually to register it. Considerably less than JBuilder's $X000 annually!
