I haven't been able to figure out how to use eclipse to edit remote files
in a simple way, i.e. without using CVS or something else like it. I don't
want to set up something that complex; I'll be the only one doing the
editing, and CVS is just overkill for what I want. Is there a simpler way
to edit remote files, using SFTP synchronization or something similar?

Thanks,
Ken

There is a separate set of plugins available for FTP and WebDAV support.
Go to the eclipse downloads page, select "Other downloads for 3.1",
and pick "FTP and WebDAV support".
