I filed a bug for this
https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=44454
which states:

currently eclipse takes into consideration the code generation parameters
when
createing field/parameters/local variables. I would like to see the rename
dialog do so as well. Idealy it would show three textboxes one for the
prefix
one for the name of the field/parameter/local variable and one for the
suffix.
By default the dialog will only have the name bit selected because when you
rename a field you never want to change the suffix or postfix. If three
textboxes is too much to ask for perhaps the dialog box can by default only
select the name part and not the suffix or postfix so that if you have the
new
name in the clipboard you can just paste it, or if you just start typing the
suffix and postfix don't get deleted!

This bug was closed as won't fix I just thought I would post it here and see
if everyone agrees with the reasons for not fixing it!
