Eclipse not removing moved files from CVS repository [message #100985] Sat, 10 September 2005 00:46 Go to next message

Hello:

I am using eclise 3.1 on Windows XP and am migrating an existing project
from NetBeans to eclipse.

I have CVS running on an external server with a repository of files.

When I move a file from one directory to another and then commit
the changes, I end up with both copies in the repository.

Shouldn't eclipse remove the file from the old location in the
repository?

Thanks,
Neil

Hello:

I took a closer look, actually, it removed the files, but the directories
are still there. I think I need to do a release on the directories.
Is there a way to do that from eclipse?

Thanks,
Neil

CVS does not really manage directories, only files. There is an option
under Preferences > Team > CVS > Files and Folders (tab) to Prune empty
directories - make sure it is checked.

Eric:

Thanks for the lead, but it is already checked. Any ideas why it is not
doing so?

Thanks,
Neil

Do you have any non-versioned files in these directories? Prune
doesn't work for directories that have files in them.
