UTF-8 on linux [message #98397] Wed, 23 July 2003 10:42
Eclipse UserFriend
Hi,
I've imported some sources from windows to eclipse on linux (RedHat 9.0)
and I saw the following message in "Problems" view.

The project was not built since the file "the_file_name.java" could not be
read.

This message appear instead of the file content:
Character Encoding problems.
This file is unreadable using the "UTF-8" character encoding.

In the motif version M1 a red circle (for error) appears near the file
name, in gtk M2 the circle not appear. (this is just an observation)

Anyway, the motive for which I couldn't saw the file was because a ' was
in the comments in file (from the word "doesn't"), after removing ' I
could see the file and build the project. Can somebody explain me why is
this happening?

Thanks
