WebTools external jar deployment [message #97058] Mon, 02 May 2005 09:26 Go to next message

How should WebTools be instructed to place external jars in the deployable
ear APP-INF/lib or the web WEB-INF/lib directories. Is this information
intended to be configured into the .wtpmodules file? If so, how?

Hi Ron,
As you figured out it should be configured into the .wtpmodules,
but this functionality will be available in M5.

Do you have a bugnumber or other docs where I can read about intended
design of this?

Hi Neeraj,

I just tried the latest Integration build and I noticed it is now
possible to use external java projects as utility jars in a web project.

I wonder if this feature couldn't be extended to external libraries :
for example say I have 3 webapps in 3 separate projects and I want to
use struts or log4j in these 3 applications. It would be nice If I can
use only one struts.jar or log4j.jar (say from another project, called
Libraries or from a user defined library).
Right now it looks like I have to put a copy of these libraries in each
webapp WEB-INF/lib directory, am I right ?

So do you think such a feature is feasible ? Does it make sense to you ?
