Available widgets for use in RAP [message #95343] Tue, 01 July 2008 02:25 Go to next message

Hi all,

I am relatively new to RAP and I am planning to do my current project as
RAP application. However I am a bit confused about what widgets are
actually available in RAP as compared to standard SWT widgets (i have
only done 'plain SWT applications' before).

Is there any comprehensive listing which widgets are available right
now, maybe which will be supported in the near future and which won't be
available at all?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Christian

Christian,

we currently don't have such a listing that is up-to-date.
You could take a look at the call hierarchy of Widget to get an
overview which widgets are missing.

In addition, the list of enhancement requests [1] lists some widgets
and methods that are yet missing.

In the near future there will be ExpandBar, DateTime and Scale
widgets available. The respective enhancement requests are also
listed here: [1]

In case you intend to port an existing RCP or SWT application to
RAP, I would recommend to compile the existing code against a RAP
target. RAP/RWT does not implement empty API, therefore you can go
along the compile errors to get an overview of what is missing for
your specific needs.

Cheers,
Rüdiger

Thanks, Rüdiger!

I think I will simply start developing, give it a try and see where I
get stuck ;-)

I will have a look at your link. It's a starting point at least.

Bye

Christian
