I'm using Eclipse 2.1 in Linux and I'm seeing some odd behavior with it. On
startup, the scrollbar for the Package Explorer doesn't work. I try to move
it, but it just kind of stutters and stays in one place. While this is
happening, nothing is being logged in the console window at all (despite the
fact that JBoss was started and should be logging a ton to the console). I
thought that the console was broken at first until I noticed that the
scrollbar wasn't working either.
When I clicked on a file in the package explorer and use the arrow key to
arrow down (forcing the window to scroll) all of a sudden the scrollbar
starts working and the console starts spewing out the normal log messages
(from JBoss) that I expected to see before.
Another odd thing is that this only happens with I'm logged directly into
this machine and running Eclipse. If I use a PC based X-server and run
Eclipse on the same machine from a PC, this problem never happens. It seems
like it might be a window manager issue (I'm running sawmill/gnome) but
Eclipse is the ONLY app that acts this way.
Any ideas on this?
