Hi there,
I have a query / enhancement request concerning JSP file syntax
highlighting:
I understand that most structured text files (HTML/XML//JSP etc...) now
share common highlighting/templating options in Eclipse/WTP.
While quite neat, all this stuff is actually more about syntax *colouring*
than highlighting, and I think it could be improved quite a bit...
As a comparison, I used the Lomboz plug-in for a while, and one of the
(very few) good points about it was the JSP syntax highlighting: Every
piece of JSP syntax (JSP scriptlets, directives and so on...) was actually
displayed in yellow highlight, on top of having foreground colouring for
individual elements (tags, attributes, etc..). This allowed for very quick
& easy identification of JSP code inside the page, and I found it to be a
huge productivity and troubleshooting booster...
So, my question is.... Is there any chance that such a commodity can/will
be implemented within the Eclipse/WTP Syntax highlighting scheme ?
Thanks,
Laurent

Hi Laurent,
The JSP scriptlet sections follow the Java syntax highlighting
preferences. You would have to open a feature request on the JDT
component (to allow background syntax highlighting) to get this
functionality in scriptlet/declaration/expression sections JSP files.

I think Phil might have misspoke ... I'm not sure we currently follow Java Preferences for highlighting,
though that has also been a feature request :)
Plus, the type of background highlighting you are talking about (where whole jsp region's background is colored, "like Lomoz used to do"), would be more an issue for jst.jsp component, not JDT. If JDT team doesn't know to move that enhancement request, you might want to yourself.
Thanks.

Hi David... Done... I just filed a new, separate request under JST.JSP,
#88951 --- Will keep you all posted.
(Note - Regarding my original request posted under JDT, it was marked as a
dup of #6712.)
