Preferences and Properties [message #83045] |

I posted the message below to the platform newsgroup, but no reply yet.
I've since looked at the Validation preferences and properties in WST, and
there seems to be quite a bit of duplicate code, but also a shared
ValidationConfiguration. Any refactoring planned in this area, either in
WTP or the platform itself? I don't actually need the "project properties
overriding preferences" behaviour yet, but would like to be able to use
field editors in my properties page (I think).

I'm just starting to look at implementing preferences and properties. It
seems you can't use field editors without a preference store.
I found this article, which is quite old:
http://www.eclipse.org/articles/Article-Mutatis-mutandis/ove rlay-pages.html
Any comments on the applicability of this approach today?
I notice the Validation preferences in WTP are overridable at the project
level, but I haven't looked at the code yet to see if they use field
editors.
Thanks,
- Richard

Richard,
We have not planned anything yet on using field editors, we may in the
future post M4 milestone. But you raise a good point. One thing to note
is that when the Validation Preference and Project level properties page
was written the field editors were not available in eclipse.
