All dates appear to be interpreted as '0006-06-27', so all my points on
the chart end up in a vertical line. The dates being passed in are
displayed correctly elsewhere on the report, in a table.

birt-runtime-1_0_1
It would seem that somehow the deployed viewer is running different code
than the eclipse preview. Any ideas?
