Need help with new VE config [message #72891] Sat, 27 November 2004 21:42 Go to next message

Hi, I'm new to this platform and can't seem to get VE to appear in my
workspace. When I right-click my source and do Open With Visual Editor,
nothing happens - the source is still in its text editor. I've restarted
with the -clean option.

I'm running j2sdk1.4.2_04 and eclipse 3.0.1 on WIN32 (XP).

I've installed the VE sdk, the runtime, emf and GEF.

I've set the Default editor for .java files to be the Visual Editor.

When I do Window, Show View I don't see anything for VE.

I have yet to see any configuration help in the help system inside the IDE.
I'm not sure if I should be adding any new plugins to the environment (like
I tried adding core.jar to the project's Java Build Path with no result.)

I think I'll reboot the system and see what happens, but does anybody have
any help to offer?

Ha! I created a new project and the damn thing loaded.

Anybody know why not with existing projects?

Do you get an error when attempting to load it in existing projects?
Check out the .log file in your workspace's .metadata directory.

Hi, Jeff,
Nope, no errors. It does load into existing projects after I close and
reopen them, though (I finally discovered.) I must have missed some
documentation somewhere. Restarting the IDE didn't have the same effect.
Restarting the project/class did the trick.

Thanks ..... paul
