Converting an MFC application [message #71394] Sat, 24 May 2003 22:58

Friends,

I am starting a large project migrating off of Visual Studio and MFC. We
have already migrated our repository from Visual Source Safe to CVS and have
created our Eclipse projects for the c++ resources.

Our application is comprised of several server components with very little
UI. The code does use MFC classes for tasks such as managing sockets and
threads. The modules send serialized objects across the wire to each other.

Does anyone have advice on this type of project, specifically...

Are there other class libraries that are relatively easy to migrate to from
MFC (Rogue-Wave?)?
Are there tools to assist this type of conversion (I have not found one)?
Any particular gotchas?

I'd like to benefit from your experience,
Bill
