Writable files after CVS commit [message #70447] Wed, 11 June 2003 02:29 Go to next message

Hi,

I would like to ask two questions concerning CVS and 'edit':

1. in normal case when I am at the office and connected to CVS
repository it is perfect, that Eclipse sends edit command to server when I
try to edit a file and write-enables the file. But there are situations,
when I am with the notebook somewhere off and need to edit some file. I such
situation I just write-enable file manually (from the properties tab), but
when I return to the office both 'edit' and 'unedit' options are disabled
for the file. Is this a bug?

2. when I commit newly-added files to the CVS, Eclipse adds them to the
repository automatically, but after commit the files are still writable. For
me it is not good because files are writable and I am not marked as editor.
And again both 'edit' and 'unedit' actions for these files are disabled.
Even when I make them readonly (from properties tab; file by file, because
properties are disabled in multiple file selection) icon decorations still
shows 'little person' (writable) and I have to restart Eclipse.

peter.

Did you try to perform an 'edit' when you were disconnected. Performing
an edit when you are disconnected should work but the notification to
the server is held until you connect successfully. If this doesn't work,
then there is a bug.

This is a known issue (https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=36470)
