Hi-
I was wondering if there's a way to view one file in two tiles. I want
to look at two distant sections of the same file simultaneously.
I'm guessing the answer is no, but I can't tell if there's some clever
non-obvious way to do this (other than copying the file)
Thanks-
Carter

Well, instead of "guessing" that you'll be disappointed,
why not try searching this news group? You are
using Ms. Outlook-Express so gaze into its main
window and summon the power of the Redmond
dark side with <alt>-E, F, F. Then impose some
obvious search terms on OE's weak mind such as:
split screen
Lo! And an answer shall appear, but only if
you have been a dedicated apprentice, of course.

Kind'a bad news when you tried the OE oracle, huh?
"There is no try, only do."
-- Yoda
So, having found that the dark side does not lead
to the true path, you must rid yourself of anger
and clear your mind so you may clearly think
enlightened thoughts of greater subtlety.
Ahh, now you may see. The non-obvious way
to achieve your goal is to open a second editor
on the same file.
"Why didn't I think of that?"
-- C3PO
How? Open a new Window. You now realize
the true path has always been before you but in
your haste you did not look so you did not see.
"Feel the power of the Farce."

Spaceballs by Mel Brooks.
Another window can hold a new editor and changes
made in one window's editor are instantly updated
in the other editor.
You may want to make yourself a Perspective
containing, perhaps, just the Editor and the
minimum of other views you need open
so your Editors have more screen real estate.
I chose to keep just the Editor and Package
Explorer views then I saved that perspective
as "Java 2nd Editor". Now I can use it by
choosing from the "Other" selections in my
Open Perspective menu. I then make each
window short and wide and place one on
the top half of my screen and the other on
the bottom half.

Thanks for the eventually helpful response.
FYI - I had already searched the group archives and eclipse's help before
posting a straightforward question to a newbie group. I really didn't need
the whole "and here is how you search a browser window" pendantic response.
