Right-click on the toolbar, choose Customize perspective. You can
change a lot of the buttons and stuff there, don't know how exactly it
works though. I think your answer is in there somewhere...

the problem is that I can remove a toolbar only together with the
corresponding menu option which I don't want to do.

The other problem is that some of the toolbars that I see don't even
show under the Customize Perspective/Commands tab. So, this is not very
helpful. Could it be because the plugin was written poorly?
