Hi all,

New to Eclipse I try to install the helios sr1 eclipse modeling tools. Target is to use the Papyrus tool to visualise some UML diagrams. However I do not get that far...

after obtaining the code from

http://www.eclipse.org/downloads/packages/eclipse-modeling-t ools-includes-incubating-components/heliossr1

untar and unzipping it towards /opt/eclipse
after installing openjdk-6-java
and adding a link in the /opt/eclipse/eclipse.init
(-vm /usr/lib/jvm/java-6-openjdk/bin/java )

I get the strange error
/eclipse: 5: Syntax error: "(" unexpected
when running ./eclipse in the /opt/eclipse/

I looked around quite a while to understand what this meant, followed the guidelines on http://wiki.eclipse.org/Eclipse.ini, redid the whole process 2 times... but did not manage to see anything else than /eclipse: 5: Syntax error: "(" unexpected

any ideas on what is happening ?

Thx a lot !

Gustavoe

Embarrassed

So I found the error myself. A quite embarrassing one...
The downloaded Eclipse was a 64 bit version (just like my machine),
but the installed Linux version (left Linux too long untouched to remember)
was a 32 bit ....

uname -r

showed this clearly.
After reinstall everything worked fine ...
