I'm looking at embedding the BIRT chart engine in an RCP app, but I can't
unless it can display SWT charts on multiple platforms. My other
alternative would be to use JFreeChart, but this has issues on the Mac
because of problems with SWT/Swing interoperability.
Anyway, on the the BIRT project page
http://www.eclipse.org/birt/index.php?page=project/project_p lan_R1_0_1.html
I see the following note after the Chart Component Reference Platforms
section:
"Window system only required when displaying charts within SWT or SWING
windows."
I'm assuming this means that using BIRT charts in an SWT window is
supported only on the Windows platform. Is this correct? If so, where does
this limitation come from and are there any plans to deal with it?
Thanks,

Hi Patrick,
The 'Window system' mentioned in the document is actually 'Windowing
system' like X Windows.
SWT charting should work fine on any platform on which SWT is
supported. (I have verified it on Windows and Linux).
Let us know how it goes (particularly on the Mac).
Thanks,
Milind
