| [URGENT] Eclipse wiped out my directory [message #57258] | Sun, 24 August 2003 06:17 | |
| Eclipse User | | | | | Hi.
I'm new to eclipse and I encoutered a misfact: eclipse delete ALL my
 project directory.

I had a ~/projects directory with many many projects. I used eclipse and
created a new projects called ``first'' in this directory.

Eclipse (under linux), WITHOUT ASKING, deleted all the content and now I
have only one file: first.xml in the projects dir.

WHAT SHOULD I DO??? Months of work... burned out??

Why this SO STUPID behaviour? Please, tell me there's a way of restoring
 my data!!

 PLEASE HELP ME!!!

 1. Ouch !!!
 2. CVS !!

Eclipse supports CVS rather well and I have been able to get it to work with
Perforce too using a plugin I had written. My friend has been able to
integrate it with Source Safe. So there are a few options as far as code
control is concerned. You should definitely have a backup system. Other
than any recovery routines that the OS and file system may offer, I am not
sure there is anything you can do at the eclipse end of things. I started
doing this after being burned a few time myself. I personally use CVS and
Perforce since I have them along with a Bugzilla plugin I have written and
the 3 work well together but a few of my friends use Source Safe and
DevTrack plugins that they have written. So there are a few options out
there. CVS support in Eclipse comes right out of the box.

 Good Luck

 Cheers
