The new smart insert feature in 3.0M1's Java editor is working well for me
so far. Indeed, I think it should be the only insert mode. I especially like
the way it handles inserting braces, waiting to insert the closing brace
until I hit return. I don't know how many times I've had to move that
closing brace from where version 2.1 used to put it.
Have you thought about some kind of tie in with formatting though? It's
still possible to insert (type or paste) or delete code in such a way that
the result isn't formatted properly so I find myself doing Ctrl-Shift-F a
lot. I almost want it to format after every keystroke (logically if not
actually).
