| Synchronization problem with Task x Task Descriptor in duplicated tasks in same WBS [message #55885] | Thu, 05 March 2009 12:21 | |
| Eclipse User | | | | | Hi, I searched for a solution in other emails and in the bug system, but I
 couldn´t found.

I elaborated a very large diagram with all phases of my process.
Because of this, I needed to repeat the same task several types in the
 same WBS.

During the WBS creation, when I drag-n-drop the task in the first type,
was created the "monitor_non_conformities" task Descriptor.

For the second instance of the same task method, EPFC automatically
renamed the second task descriptor to "monitor_non_conformities_2" and
unchecked the "synchronize with source". For the third task the same,
 and so on...

I noticed that the "synchronize with source" was unchecked when I
changed the 'presentation name' of the method task source and executed
the default synchronization, and only the first instance updated the
 'presentation name' correctly.

I reviewed all the WBS, changing manually the 'presentation name' and
re-checking the "synchronize with source" for all other copies, but I
maintained the name as "monitor_non_conformities_2" and
 "monitor_non_conformities_3", etc...

But now I added some steps and output artifacts, and all copies (even
with "synchronize with source" checked) were NOT synchronized, only the
"first instance", only the first task descriptor I created was correctly
 synchronized.

I´m really worried, because I don´t know how to maintain this large
diagram up-to-date if the "copies" were not synchronized. What should I
 do to guarantee the synchronization?
I tried to rename the 'name' (not presentation name) with the same name
of the method task source, and it also didn´t solve my problem.

Sorry the large e-mail, I don´t know if someone is reading, but I think
it´s important to report these issues or if it is not a issue, I can
understand better the EPFC, because I like and believe in your good work.

 Thank you,
 Fernanda

| Eclipse User | | | | | As long as you have link to task from task descriptor and "synchronized with source" checked, it should synchronize. Also, when you change any of
synchronization attributes/features manually eg. presentation name etc,
EPFC will uncheck "synchronize with source" flag automatically.

In your case, it does seem like it should have synchronized task
descriptors correctly. Please try with custom synchronization as well.

After that, if you think it's a bug, feel free to file a bugzilla. But we
would need sample lib. You can create a small lib and attach to bug and
also, give us steps to indicate what's exactly a problem.

 Thanks
