How to use plugins? [message #54297] Tue, 19 April 2005 01:53 Go to next message

Hello,
After downloaded a plugin and unzip it into features and plugin directories
of Eclipse, I open File>New>Other to use it, but I cannot see what I
expected. Any help? Thanks!

Regards,
Sam Hwang

Hello

Try using "Window", "Open Perspective", "Other..." or "Window", "Show
View", "Other..." (depends whether the plug-in contributes a perspective
or just a view). If you cannot find it in these places, chances are high
that the installation failed or some dependencies are not met.

Hope this helps

If you still don't see them, run eclipse once with -clean

Hello and thanks,
What do u mean installation failed? I just unzipped
eclipse-SDK-3.0.2-win32.zip to a proper place and run the program and that
is all. Have I missed something?

Sam Hwang

No, you haven't - I meant the installation of the Plug-in. Possible
cuases of problems when installing Plugi-ns:
- problems with the plug-in regstry
solution of this issue in Chris Laffra's posting of 2005-04-19 16:28h
- plug-in not unzipped to the plugin-directory
plug-in does not show up on the view "Plugins"
- dependencies not met
use the View "Plug-ins" to find out details
- version missmatch
use the View "Plug-ins" to find out details

The Views "Plug-in Registry" and "Plug-in Dependencies" are generally
very helpful!

Hope this helps
