The vendorExtension extension point is used in IBM products.
There are a couple of EclipseCon presentations that give an overview of
how to extend the SQL query parser and model. Here are links where you
can download the presentations:
EclipseCon 2006: Developing data tools with the DTP SQL models and parser

EclipseCon 2007: Do you speak my dialect? Editing, parsing, and
building SQL with the DTP SQL Development Tools

They have some further links on their "Resources" pages at the end.
I have a small example extension for PostgreSQL that I used for a
presentation a while back. I'll get it working on the latest version of
DTP and find a place to put it in CVS.
