VE 1.0 M1 on Mac OS X [message #39462] Thu, 27 May 2004 15:43 Go to next message

Hi there,

today I tried to get the Eclipse VE running on OS X. I tried all the
official combinations listed on the VE
download page (that is 1.0M1 and 0.5) with all the right combination of
the libraries.

I also did this install for at least 3 times on Windows with no problem so
I don't think I missed
something.

My problem is that the visual editor is able to start (somehow) but it
cannot draw the interface in the
upper pane of the editor and the adjustement controlls for the split-pane
don't work. Also Eclipse
hangs and eventually (after about 5 minutes) crashes if I try to access
the prefs page of the Visual-
Editor. (This behaviour is the same with both VE versions that I tried)

Is this an expected behaviour? I couldn't find anything in the FAQ, Google
or the archive of this group
so I figured I should ask...

Does anybody use the VE successfully on OS X? If so, which versions do you
use or what did you do to
get this running?

Thanks a lot,
cu Martin

Hi Martin,

Unfortunately, the Visual Editor isn't supported on Mac OS X yet. This
is stated in the project's FAQ:
http://dev.eclipse.org/viewcvs/indextools.cgi/%7Echeckout%7E /vep-home/WebContent/faq.html#general_os

You can add yourself to the CC list on bug 47716 to watch for updates on
this effort:
https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=47716

Sorry,

- Jeff
