Hello, I'm seeking a free Eclipse alternative to RAD for Java EE 6 development with Websphere. I briefly explored "Eclipse for Java EE Developers," but it appears to support only Java EE 5. Can anyone confirm this? Alternatively, combining the "Eclipse for Java EE Developers" IDE with the "WAS Developer Tools for Eclipse" plugin and the local WAS server "WAS for Developers" seems promising. However, I require Java EE 6 support. Any insights on this would be greatly appreciated.

The Eclipse IDE for Java EE is now called "Eclipse IDE for Enterprise Java and Web Developers". It supports up to Java EE 8 in version 2023-12. It requires Java 17 to run Eclipse but you can still develop for older Java version in the usual way.

You'd have to check for yourself if this version of Eclipse is compatible with the plugins you require.
