htaccess files [message #1823244] Mon, 23 March 2020 10:35 Go to next message

I have been working with PDT for many years
But I was always surprised that there is no possibility to edit it .htaccess files.
This file is present in all web projects, so why should it be edited outside the IDE?
All the same applies to files .hgignore and .gitignore
How do I configure the IDE for all projects , both current and future?

Eclipse (similar to linux/mac) by default hide .* files. Just open project explorer filters and disable .* resources filter.

WOW Realy?

A normal IDE is normal because it allows you to configure it the way the end user needs it, and not the way they wanted it on the support forum.

The programmer needs to see in the repository the resources that he wants and not just those that ARE not hidden by default. You need to control what to show and what not to show .

Your method will show all files, including files .project .build path .settings and so on. Your method goes to the trash!

Many developers want these files in repository so why in trash? how do i know which ones is important to you. Show all/hide all, file is file.

BTW: .gitignore should be modified via EGIT interface (right click). If you need more control another feature, rise a bug on bugs.eclipse.org
