Huge memory consumption of Infocenter [message #334916]

Hi,

I'm struggling with large memory consumption of Eclipse Infocenter. We
have a Infocenter library with 6 books, containing 12 000 pages
altogether. There are 4 million hits / 34 000 visits per month.

Allocated memory to eclipse is -vmargs -Xmx1536m (out of 4GB total in
server), but it is still running out of memory:

java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: Java heap space

Can it be true that standalone Infocenter really requires over 1536M
memory? Is there any recommended value?

For me it also seems that there might be some memory leak since the memory
consumption slightly grows until the maximum is reached (takes 24 hours or
so).

One thing that I found is setting locales (-nl en -locales en), but
testing didn't provide too convincing results.

I recommend that you repost your message to that newsgroup. The Eclipse
committers that cover the infocenter code follow that newsgroup and then
will see your posting there.

When you post your message to eclipse.platform.ua newsgroup, I suggest
that you also include what operating system (OS) you're running the
infocenter on, as well as what Eclipse Version you're using for the
infocenter.
