In order to be able to start our client with different configurations we have more than one config.properties file (obviously with different names).

How do I specify which file should be loaded by the client? The technical guide mentions that the recommended (and hence default) value is "config.properties" but it does not explain how to supply a differently named properties file on startup.

You should be able to set the system property "config.properties" to a URL pointing your specific config.properties-file. See the ConfigUtility.java and PropertiesHelper.java for more code details.
