importing the javaeditor example [message #328415]

Hi

I've installed the sdk examples and I imported the javaeditor plugin
example (by using the wizard Import -> Plugin and fragments); however, I
get many compilation errors (and the main one seems to be in the
manifest file: 'Bundle-SymbolicName' header is required in
org.eclipse.ui.examples.javaeditor/META-INF/MANIFEST.MF line 1)...

am I doing something wrong?

what is the correct way to import that plugin?

That example is a touch out of date. It uses the old bundle metadata
mechanism (supported prior to version 3.0). AFAIK, it doesn't even have
a manifest.mf file.

You might try to fix it up, but I suspect that you're going to run into
a lot more problems.

There's nothing to fix. Just because it's old and not ported to the new
runtime story doesn't mean that the sample doesn't work. Installing the
sample via Welcome page works fine and also importing the plug-in and
running it works for me.

Yes ;-) Simply install the Sample via Help > Welcome. I just tried this
and there is no error reported. Also, importing the binary project works
for me but attaching the source seems broken.

yes, that seems to work fine; probably it downloads it from another
source... probably the documentation of the examples should be updated
though...
