On the platform support page it says: RaspberryPi SPS. I guess the SPS is abbreviation for PLC?

Yes SPS is the German word for PLC. However "RaspberryPi SPS" are I/O modules from a German vendor which can be connected to a Raspberry PI and provides you with PLC like I/O modules. The web page of this product is here: http://raspberry-sps.de/[.
