Project name not used on importing existing project [message #328125]

Using Eclipse 3.4M7 I've noticed that when I attempt to import my existing
projects (created by Maven) that if the project name does not match the
directory that the directory name is used instead of the project name.

For example:

Directory MyEclipse\projects\project1\config
contains a java project with a project name proj1-config

Directory MyEclipse\projects\project2\config
contains a java project with a project name proj2-config

When attempting to import the existing projects starting at the root of
MyEclipse , the two projects get picked up but their names are displayed
in the dialog as
config (proj1-config)
config (proj2-config)

Attempting to import the projects Eclipse than has issues importing
projects due to 2 projects with the same name.

The above functionality seemed to get introduced around 3.4M5. Is there
an option I'm missing or is this a bug?
