I'm continuously struggeling with slicingopions. So I was wondering what the new switch resolve is doing.

The resolve flag will cause a dependency resolution (like what happens at install time) to happen for the IUs you specify. When you are not using that flag then the slicer just does an approximate computation.

I will give it a try on the simultaneous release and epp.packages IUs.
