I would like to build my RCP application based on a target platform which accesses a local p2 update site (described here for example).

I tried it and everything works fine. My problem now is: I cannot reference my update site by a relative path.
So whenever I move the folder, the build would fail.
=> Does anyone know a workaround for this problem?

Why does this even matter to me: I would like to be able to check out any commit from my git
repository (maybe in 5 years or so) and be able to build the project without modifying anything.
=> Is building my own p2 site even the right approach here?
