Installed EGit, but not showing up [message #1691678] Thu, 09 April 2015 02:48 Go to next message

I installed EGit into eclipse...

Version: Luna Release (4.4.0)
Build id: 20140612-0600

and it says that EGit is installed (under Eclipse Marketplace as well as Install new Software).

When trying to use it, it does not show up in ANY team menus. I've tried looking for it in preferences, under team. It's not there. When selecting Team->Share Project, it immediately uses CVS and does not give an option to use git.

Am I missing something here? I'm very confused.

And yes, I've restarted eclipse several times. I would prefer not to do a clean install if possible, but if that's the only option... so be it.

I can't explain why you don't see EGit now. But why have you explicitly installed EGit. It's already included in nearly all packages (https://eclipse.org/downloads/compare.php?release=luna . See "Git Team Provider"). I tried to reproduce your problem but had no success. Maybe it has to do with the eclipse package you installed. Or with the other plugins installed. If you install a fresh "Java" or "Java EE" package, do you still see this problem?

Hi, Has this question been resolved? I am facing the same issue: installed Egit and JGit, but perspective and view are not updated.

Please help.

I started experiencing the same issue this morning after taking the auto-update to the new version of EGit and have already wasted several hours of frustration. This simple act fixed it though!
