Update error: Digest could not be parsed [message #319004] Thu, 09 August 2007 15:02 Go to next message

I am getting consistent errors whenever I try to search for updates to my
Eclipse components. Unfortunately, the information does not include the
specific component that is causing the update to abort. Here is the error
info from the log file:

eclipse.buildId=I20070503-1400
java.version=1.5.0_07
java.vendor=Apple Computer, Inc.
BootLoader constants: OS=macosx, ARCH=x86, WS=carbon, NL=en_US
Framework arguments: -keyring /Users/erict/.eclipse_keyring -showlocation
Command-line arguments: -os macosx -ws carbon -arch x86 -keyring
/Users/erict/.
eclipse_keyring -consoleLog -showlocation

!ENTRY org.eclipse.update.core 4 0 2007-08-07 23:34:48.441
!MESSAGE Digest could not be parsed:Element type "includes" must be
followed by
either attribute specifications, ">" or "/>".

I suspect that there is a bad config file on one of the update sites, but
I'm damned if I can figure out which one. This is quite tedious.

Check out platform.xml in the .metadata site (think it's somewhere in update) as well as the various sites in feature.xml.

One way of tying these problems down is to install a network sniffer and/or proxy that you can point Eclipse to; that way, you can see the output as it happens. It's possible that you're getting an HTML 404 back. See e.g. The Grinder http://grinder.sourceforge.net

It's a bad digest produced by SiteOptimizer on one of the update
sites... from the looks of it... how about you select your own mirror
and download from another site?

Cheers,
