Parvez,

I've been watching some of the discussion about EFS on the platform
newsgroup with great interest. Given that EMF is based around resources
identified by URIs and that such URIs could now be used to
define/implement files that will appear to be workspace resources, there
are some interesting new possibilities to be explored. But I've not had
the time to do any exploration. :-( Maybe someone else has and will
share their observations and insights. The platform newsgroup might
generate more responses to your specific question, so I've added that
newsgroup to the note chain.

Thanks Ed. John has updated the wiki
(http://wiki.eclipse.org/index.php/EFS) with more information.

Yes, I actually updated the wiki in response to this thread, and then I
couldn't remember what newsgroup I had seen the post in ;) I do scan
the newsgroups from time to time, but conversation on the talk page of
the wiki is more likely to get my attention (or a bug report of course,
if you believe you have encountered a bug).
