Font antialiasing under Mac OS Snow [message #487821] Thu, 24 September 2009 10:01 Go to previous message

Hi all,
I hope this is an appropriate place for my question. If not, please redirect me.

I have just installed the Cocoa version of Galileo on a MacBook Pro running Snow Leopard. I have imported the preferences I had just saved from the Ganymede version and am facing a problem which is a major issue for me. The same font (Monaco 10pt) that displays perfectly with the Europa and Ganymede instances is all broken in Galileo as soon as the the font size reaches 10pt or lower in italic style (see images in attached zip).

The "broken" means that where 3.3 and 3.4 display 10pt italic Monaco with font smoothing, 3.5 displays an "indented" font that is just not readable for me. In short, 3.5 stops applying antialiasing for size 10 and below of Monaco.

Searching the web, I found someone advised entering "defaults write org.eclipse.eclipse AppleAntiAliasingThreshold xx" (so as to prevent Eclipse from antialiasing fonts below xx), which I did to no avail. That's not a surprise that it failed since the three versions of Eclipse are running at the same time and only one is being rogue.

Has anyone ever encountered this problem and fixed it ? To sum it up, how can I tell Galileo to antialias Monaco down to 10pt instead of stopping at 11pt ?
Thanks.
[EDIT: it seems like the file I uploaded several times is not attached to the message.]
