Hi Gregor,

You can check the WTP Server Tools documentation:
http://eclipse.org/webtools/server/server.php

There are links to two ppt slides:
- one from 2005: http://www.eclipse.org/webtools/wst/components/server/Eclips eConServerTools2005.ppt
- and a new version from 2009: http://www.eclipse.org/webtools/wst/components/server/Seneca ServerTools2009.ppt

I'd recommend to also examine the source code of the Tomcat server adapter that is available in the WTP CVS. I've learned lots of things from there.
