WTP usability [message #555122] |

Without wishing to offend the hard-working folk who have labored over
the Web Tools Project over the years, I would like to assert that moving
beyond Galileo presents a number of challenges reminiscent of the early
days years ago when I was trying to get my arms around the whole WTP
functionality.
In particular, I find working around the Java EE Module Dependencies
more work than it should be. (I admit that I may just be a slow learner.)
If the complaints I read in this newsgroup and have had myself are any
gauge, some of the directions taken in Helio may have been unwise and I
can only hope that they will hit their stride in Indigo which, in my
opinion, will make of Helios, like Ganymede, a release whose absence
would not have been greatly missed (IMHO).
I'm sticking with Galileo for this reason, just as I stuck with Europa
until Galileo came out (never could get Ganymede to behave well on
openSuSE).
I say this with the utmost respect due from someone who's not himself
making a contribution to the effort. So, thanks for where we are; it's a
great product nevertheless. And, of course, Eclipse itself is nothing
short of dynamite. It's the best tool I've ever used.

Does the heart good to know that others are dismayed too by this
problem. I'm looking forward to the solution.
Thanks,
Russ
