Using Artificial Intelligence in your Eclipse Open Source Project

In this session, we delivered an early version of a presentation that we building to include in our Committer Training video series concerning the use of Artificial Intelligence by Eclipse Committers and Contributors.

A key take-away should be that as a committer you bear a responsibility to verify that all contributions to your Eclipse open source project are technically correct and can be supported by the project team moving forward. This applies equally to content that is generated by a human or by AI. In fact, many of the committer responsibilities are the same whether generated by an AI or a human: as a committer you need to connect with the Eclipse IP Team to vet and track contributions that are greater than a thousand lines of code and work with your PMC when contributions contain cryptographic algorithms. Much of the discussion around AI-generated content is of the potential for copyright violation, but this too is a concern that we also have with content that is contributed by humans.

We try to provide some guidelines around accepting AI-generated contributions.
