Vision

Vision is to make the Eclipse Foundation (EF) Open-Source projects have an inclusive community – Inclusive in being going beyond the traditional definition. One example of the extended definitions can be seen in EF recently making it possible to donate in world currencies beyond the Euro and the USD and thus making this process more inclusive. On another aspect of inclusion, there are multiple users of Eclipse and many times they want to contribute as well – The conversion rate from users to contributors is not uniform and at best minimal.

As an Eclipse Board Member, I plan to make the implementation of this vision as my mission which is envisaged in a threefold step as mentioned below: 1) Idea is to start from home, the local eco-system by organizing workshops in different meetups and conferences on helping users to start their contributor journey with the help of committers across companies and projects. 2) Explore the possibility of having sustainable academic collaborations. 3) Connect with decision makers of companies locally to make them aware of advantages of being a member of Eclipse Foundation thus generating leads for expansion of memberships as well as contributing members.

Though I am a Committer and Project Lead of Eclipse Java Development Tools (JDT) along-with the constant connect with Eclipse Foundation in IDE WG Steering Committee and Planning Council, being a Board Member of Eclipse Foundation provides a much more elevated and trusted plane to connect with the enterprise decision makers to discuss the various possibilities of an association with Eclipse Foundation and to mark new beginnings in association with various companies. And I believe it's a great opportunity and privilege to represent committers in Eclipse Board and consequently help to make committer experiences much smoother and enhanced.
